The tiny house movement, known for its emphasis on simplicity and minimalism, is often associated with affordable and sustainable living. However, the Golden House by Estonian design firm ÖÖD takes a different route, adding a touch of extravagance to the movement with its luxurious design and a hefty price tag of $250,000. Described as one of the most exclusive tiny homes in the world, it caters to a niche group of buyers looking for both opulence and compact living.
The Golden House is striking in its appearance, featuring a mirrored gold glass exterior that gives it an undeniably bold aesthetic. This reflective surface isn’t just for show — it also serves a functional purpose by providing privacy, as those inside can enjoy views outside without worrying about being seen. The golden glass was commissioned specifically for this project, ensuring its uniqueness, while the rear of the house features a more modest wooden cladding.
Measuring 7.9 meters (25 feet) in length and 3.3 meters (10 feet) in width, the Golden House offers a total floorspace of 26.3 square meters (283 square feet). While its size is typical of tiny homes, the design and materials set it apart. The interior is filled with natural light due to the extensive use of glass, creating an open and airy feel. Despite its compact footprint, the house manages to deliver on luxury with high-end additions such as underfloor heating, oak paneling, and gold-colored fittings throughout.
The interior layout is simple yet functional. The main living area is a multipurpose room that combines a seating space, a kitchen, and a bedroom. The kitchen, although small, includes essentials such as a fridge and gold-colored sink, along with cabinetry for storage.

The seating area, located at the center of the room, is flanked by the kitchen on one side and the bedroom area — equipped with a double bed and a large storage unit — on the other. The bathroom, which is accessed through the kitchen, offers a toilet, sink, and shower, all with a view thanks to the mirrored glass, though privacy is ensured by the reflective surface.

While the house is connected to power through a standard RV-style hookup, there’s also an option for those seeking an off-grid experience. Buyers can choose to equip the Golden House with a full solar power system, allowing for complete independence from external utilities.

The exclusivity of the Golden House is underscored by its limited production run of just 79 units, a nod to gold’s atomic number. Of these, around 30 are expected to be sold in Europe and the United States, with the rest heading to buyers in the Middle East and other regions. With such limited availability and a price tag that rivals traditional homes, the Golden House appeals to a select audience interested in a prefabricated tiny home that combines luxury with the small living trend.
