In today’s fast-paced, multitasking work environments, a standard computer keyboard may no longer be enough for everyone’s productivity needs. Tmice, a Hong Kong-based company, has addressed this issue with the Tmice X, a modular keyboard system that allows users to add or remove productivity tools based on their specific tasks. This customizable keyboard could provide a flexible solution for users who require more than just a traditional QWERTY layout.
At its core, the Tmice X features a standard wired QWERTY keyboard with 68 keycaps, equipped with Akko Cream Yellow switches for smooth, responsive typing. The keyboard is housed in a durable aluminum alloy case and includes LED backlighting for a modern touch. For most users, this setup might suffice for everyday tasks. However, the Tmice X offers a range of optional modules that can be attached to meet the demands of more complex workflows.
One of the key advantages of the Tmice X is the ability to add a numpad module for users who frequently work with numbers. There’s also an optional row of function keys that can be attached to the top of the keyboard. For creative professionals or anyone who needs enhanced control, Tmice offers a controller module featuring a multi-function knob and six customizable keys. These keys can display icons representing user-assigned macros or shortcuts, making the keyboard even more versatile.
Additionally, Tmice provides a connectivity strip module that adds several USB-C and Type-A ports, including power delivery for charging mobile devices. A touch bar module and a left-positioned numeric keypad with a control knob may also be available if the company’s Kickstarter campaign hits certain stretch goals.

All the modular accessories connect to the main keyboard block using magnetic pogo pin connectors, which not only secure the attachments but also provide power to the additional modules. This design allows users to easily switch between different setups depending on their needs.
Founded in 2009, Tmice aims to develop “innovative keyboard products that bring endless fun to the desktop experience.” The Tmice X is the company’s first project launched on Kickstarter. Pledges for the base keyboard start at $79.99, with additional modules available for purchase either individually or in bundles. If all goes according to plan, shipping is expected to begin in December.
