When it comes to multitools, the promise of “everyday carry” (EDC) is often more of an aspiration than a reality. Many multitools, while useful, are too bulky or heavy to comfortably carry every day. Enter the Multi-Kit, a new titanium multitool that aims to redefine what it means to be truly portable. Developed by the Hong Kong-based outdoor gear company EckDesign, the Multi-Kit is currently gaining attention through its Kickstarter campaign for packing a surprising number of features into a compact, lightweight design.
Compact design with high-quality materials
At first glance, the Multi-Kit distinguishes itself with its diminutive size and weight. Measuring just 65 mm long by 31 mm wide (2.6 x 1.2 inches) and weighing only 29.8 grams (1.05 ounces), this multitool is small enough to fit in a pocket or attach to a keychain without adding significant bulk. The use of CNC-machined Grade 5 titanium not only ensures durability but also keeps the weight to a minimum, making it an attractive option for those who prioritize portability in their gear.
Innovative carabiner design
Unlike many multitools on the market, the Multi-Kit incorporates a carabiner that doesn’t rely on the traditional folding gate mechanism. Instead, it features a pushbutton-activated, spring-loaded lock pin that moves straight up and down. This design choice is intended to reduce the risk of the carabiner accidentally opening, enhancing its reliability when attached to a backpack, belt loop, or other gear.
A range of useful tools
Despite its small size, the Multi-Kit is equipped with a variety of tools that cater to everyday needs. At the top of the titanium multitool, users will find three fold-out steel tools: a knife blade, a magnetic bit holder, and a thin flathead screwdriver. Notably, the flathead screwdriver also doubles as a file, adding another layer of functionality.
On the non-carabiner-gate side, the Multi-Kit includes additional practical features. A bottle opener and two sizes of hex wrench holes are standard, but the tool also offers a glow-in-the-dark tritium vial slot (with the vial available separately), and a thick flathead screwdriver built into one corner. For those who frequently use screwdrivers, a magnetic slot provides storage for one of three included bits: a Phillips, a flathead, and a Torx.

Emergency features and additional utility
The bottom of the Multi-Kit features a tungsten steel stud designed specifically for breaking automobile windows in emergency situations. This addition could be particularly valuable for drivers who want a reliable escape tool in their vehicle. To round out its array of features, the Multi-Kit also has a lanyard hole located in the corner beneath the gate, providing yet another way to attach or carry the tool.
Pricing and availability
The Multi-Kit is currently available for pre-order through its Kickstarter campaign, with a pledge of $59 securing one unit. The retail price is expected to be $79 once the crowdfunding campaign is completed and the product goes into full production.
