Modern Shed’s latest tiny house design takes a creative approach to maximizing space by incorporating a rooftop terrace, offering a unique blend of indoor and outdoor living. Built on a triple-axle trailer, this tiny house measures 34 ft (10 m) in length and 10 ft (3 m) in width, providing a more spacious interior. However, this extra width requires a permit to tow on US public roads. The exterior features painted shiplap, giving it a clean and stylish look.
The interior layout is thoughtfully designed, breaking away from traditional tiny house norms. The main entrance comprises sliding glass doors that open into the living room, positioned centrally on the ground floor. This space includes seating, storage, and a feature ceiling with wood accents. Underfloor heating is installed throughout the ground floor, ensuring a comfortable environment year-round.
One of the standout features is the kitchen’s location in one of the lofts, accessible via a short flight of steps. Despite its elevated position, the kitchen provides ample headroom, allowing users to stand upright comfortably. It is equipped with essential appliances, including a fridge/freezer, small dishwasher, electric cooktop, and microwave. A compact dining table completes the kitchen setup. The area is enhanced by a feature ceiling made of wood and cork, adding a touch of warmth and character.
The rooftop terrace, accessible from the kitchen via storage-integrated steps, adds a new dimension to tiny living. It includes seating and tables, making it an ideal spot for relaxation or outdoor dining. The pergola on the terrace is removable, allowing for easy transit.
The bedroom is situated in another loft, accessible from the living room. It includes a double bed, a skylight, and a lowered standing platform for added convenience when dressing. The ground floor also houses the bathroom, complete with a vanity sink, toilet, shower, and washer/dryer. A secondary entrance in the bathroom provides direct access to the outdoors.
