Camping has evolved significantly over the years, with tents becoming quicker to set up and more comfortable to stay in. However, traditional tents often involve a complex setup with poles and elastic.
French company Exod has introduced a novel solution that simplifies this process using inflatable technology, inspired by kite-surfing wings. The company’s latest product, the Air Station POD-01, promises to enhance the camping experience with a quick setup, spacious interior, and modern design.
Innovative design and quick setup
The Air Station POD-01 is an inflatable housing solution that provides a comfortable and spacious shelter for up to four people. Exod’s use of inflatable beams, which become hard and rigid at just 0.5 bar (7 PSI) of pressure, allows for a quick and straightforward setup.
According to Exod, the entire structure can be inflated in just five minutes using a hand pump. A hyperlapse video on the company’s website demonstrates that the POD-01 can also be deflated and packed away in the same amount of time.

Spacious and practical
Once inflated, the Air Station POD-01 offers 4.2 square meters (about 45 square feet) of floor space. The walls, which rise up to 153 cm (about 5 feet), feature large screened openings and windows that provide a panoramic view of the surroundings. This design not only enhances the camping experience by allowing campers to enjoy the view but also improves ventilation. To keep the floor space clear, storage modules that fasten to the air beams are included.

Portable but hefty
When it’s time to pack up, the POD-01 can be folded down into a carry bag that measures 25 x 35 x 64 cm (about 10 x 14 x 25 inches). This compact size makes it easy to transport. However, at 8.5 kg (18.7 lb), it is relatively heavy, making it more suitable for car camping rather than backpacking.
Pre-order and pricing information

Exod is currently accepting pre-orders for the Air Station POD-01 in black or white. Early buyers can take advantage of a €600 discount, with the pre-order price set at €1,899 (about US$2,050). After the pre-order period, the retail price will increase to €2,499 (about US$2,679). The company anticipates that units will begin shipping in late 2024.
