Versatile unmanned cleaning boat for inland water maintenance

The Orcauboat SMURF unmanned cleaning boat is a comprehensive solution for maintaining clean and healthy water surfaces. Designed for versatility, the SMURF operates autonomously or can be remotely controlled, making it a suitable option for various water maintenance tasks. Its multi-functional design includes garbage collection, water quality monitoring, shoreline inspection, and water sampling, offering an all-in-one tool for inland water management.

The SMURF’s closed-loop operation streamlines the entire cleaning process. Equipped with autonomous garbage collection and filtration, it can store waste on board, return autonomously for charging, and then resume work. The boat’s intelligent system includes advanced obstacle avoidance powered by millimeter-wave radar, allowing it to navigate complex water environments safely.

A notable feature of the SMURF is its 5G IoT connectivity, which enables remote control and monitoring from virtually anywhere, anytime. Operators can monitor the boat’s activities and initiate tasks with a one-key start feature from a mobile device or tablet. It also features a battery life of six to eight hours and utilizes a wireless autonomous charging dock to support continuous 24/7 operation. In ideal conditions, the SMURF can manage water bodies ranging from 50 to 100 acres, adapting to urban rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.

In terms of build, the SMURF is a robust piece of equipment. It measures 2921 mm in length, 1763 mm in width, and 1080 mm in height, weighing 155 kg. It can carry up to 50 kg of waste and has an immersion depth of 0.47 m. Additionally, it withstands wind force of up to level 3, ensuring stability even in moderately challenging weather conditions. SMURF’s precision and versatility extend to shore cleaning, thanks to its Alongside Cleaning Module, which tackles waste collection along rocky or concrete shorelines.

The SMURF also incorporates AI-driven garbage identification for intelligent maintenance. Utilizing millimeter-wave radar and visual recognition, it can identify and target areas based on garbage density. With intelligent path planning and precise obstacle avoidance, it autonomously navigates around obstacles, making it suitable for various inland water conditions. Orcauboat reports that nearly 1,000 units of the SMURF have been shipped globally, covering a cumulative distance of 400,000 kilometers across hundreds of water bodies.

The workflow for SMURF is both automated and straightforward:

    1. Start remotely via mobile phone or PC.
    2. The boat tracks and autonomously performs cleaning operations.
    3. It completes cleaning tasks in designated areas.
    4. On low battery, it automatically returns for wireless charging.
    5. A shore crane can then remove the waste collected in garbage baskets.
    6. Once charged, the SMURF resumes operation autonomously.
    SMURF Unmanned Cleaning Boat Coverage
The Orcauboat SMURF effectively cleans and monitors up to 100 acres of water, making it ideal for urban rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.

Overall, Orcauboat SMURF combines powerful features for efficient, environmentally-conscious water maintenance. With intelligent cleaning modes and adaptive navigation, it offers a valuable tool for organizations aiming to maintain water quality and cleanliness across various inland bodies of water.
