In an innovative fusion of 3D printing and outdoor recreation, Lemki Robotix and iScale3D have unveiled the Discover 3D, a teardrop-style camper built primarily using 3D-printed materials. Compact yet functional, the Discover 3D is designed to fit a small family or couple seeking a lightweight, versatile camping trailer. With room to sleep three people “at a squeeze,” it offers a practical setup for short outdoor adventures while maintaining a minimalist profile.
Design and dimensions
The Discover 3D measures 3.2 meters (10.5 feet) in length, with a height and width of 1.8 meters (5.10 feet) each. These compact dimensions make it easy to tow, even with smaller vehicles, as the trailer weighs approximately 400 kg (880 lbs). Unlike traditional teardrop trailers, the Discover 3D’s structure is primarily composed of a single-axle trailer base topped with a 3D-printed shell. This setup keeps the trailer light and maneuverable, a clear benefit for those who want a simple, easily transportable camper.

Inside, the trailer offers snug sleeping arrangements rated for three, though two adults would likely find it a more comfortable fit. Storage space includes some built-in shelving and additional compartments for basic gear and personal items, making it functional for minimalist campers who appreciate efficient design.
Tailgate galley and optional off-grid features
The Discover 3D includes a basic tailgate galley at the back of the trailer, accessible via a flip-up tailgate. The galley features a two-burner propane stove and a small sink, sufficient for preparing light meals and making hot drinks on the go. While not elaborate, this setup suits campers looking for a quick and convenient cooking area.

For those interested in off-grid capabilities, optional add-ons include a roof-mounted solar panel and battery kit. This setup allows users to power small appliances such as a mini-fridge or portable fan, potentially adding comfort and functionality to longer stays. Sensors for monitoring temperature, water levels, and other environmental factors are also available, enhancing the camper’s ability to support self-sufficient travel.
Sustainable 3D printing process
The 3D-printed shell of the Discover 3D is manufactured using FGF (fused granulate fabrication) technology. This process involves melting thermoplastic pellets, which are then extruded in layers to form the structure. Notably, designer Vasyl Gonar emphasized the camper’s environmental considerations, mentioning that the polypropylene used was sourced from approximately 7,400 recycled plastic bottles. Fiberglass is also incorporated into the build, adding structural strength to the shell without significantly increasing weight.

Availability and pricing
For those interested in purchasing or renting the Discover 3D, iScale3D is planning to open preorders soon. Pricing is expected to range between €12,000 (around $12,940) and €18,000 (around $19,410), depending on selected options. Rental prices are anticipated to start at €60 (approximately $65) per day, allowing prospective buyers a trial option before making a full commitment. Further information on availability and specifications is expected to be released in the coming days.
