Madeiguincho, a woodworking studio from Portugal, has introduced the Concha, a compact tiny house designed for off-grid living. Built on a double-axle trailer, the Concha measures 5 meters (16.4 feet) in length. Its size makes it ideal for those seeking a portable and minimalist lifestyle.
Inspired by Madeiguincho’s earlier Brava model, the Concha tiny house features a similar aesthetic, with a plywood interior and large windows that maximize natural light. The layout is intentionally simple, making the most of the limited space. The main living area includes a multifunctional seating unit that also provides storage and doubles as a daybed.
The kitchen, while compact, includes all the essentials: cabinetry, a sink, a fridge, and a portable electric stove. Adjacent to the kitchen is a small bathroom equipped with a shower, sink, and a composting toilet. A unique design feature is a window built into the staircase leading to the loft bedroom, allowing light to filter into the bathroom. For privacy, the window presumably includes some form of covering.
The loft bedroom itself accommodates a double bed and has a low ceiling typical of tiny houses. The Concha’s off-grid capabilities are supported by a solar panel array connected to batteries, along with tanks for fresh water and greywater.
The Concha tiny house is currently available for purchase, priced at €60,000 (approximately $63,000). Its compact design and thoughtful features make it a practical option for those looking to embrace tiny house living while traveling or living sustainably off the grid.
