InMotion, known for its powerful electric unicycles, has launched the V9, a model that balances performance and safety. It’s being marketed as the world’s first electric unicycle to receive TÜV Rheinland safety certification, a notable achievement in an industry where safety concerns are prevalent. In addition to this, it meets UL 2272 standards, ensuring that the battery and electrical systems are designed to minimize the risk of fire and electrical hazards.
Power and performance
The V9 is equipped with a motor rated at 1,000 watts, which can peak at 2,000 W, delivering up to 90 Nm (66 lb.ft) of torque. This allows the unicycle to reach a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph). To provide a smoother riding experience, the V9 features a Nimbus Air suspension system with 60 mm of travel, making it suitable for various terrains. It also includes a Raptor M controller for high-current output and the Ultra-Control balance system to enhance stability during acceleration and turns.
Advanced safety and monitoring features
The V9 goes beyond traditional safety features by integrating RideConnect technology, which enables 4G remote locking and continuous monitoring, even when the unicycle is turned off. Users can manage this through a companion app, which also allows for ride mode adjustments, battery status checks, and other customizations.
This focus on safety doesn’t compromise its power. According to InMotion’s CEO, Wang Yu, “The V9 is not just a product – it’s a major step toward making electric unicycles a mainstream mode of transportation.” This statement underscores the company’s intent to expand the use of electric unicycles beyond niche markets.

Impressive battery and charging capabilities
The V9 is powered by a 750-Wh battery, enabling up to 37 miles (59.5 km) of range per charge. It supports 16-A fast charging, allowing for full recharges in about an hour. The battery uses 21700 Samsung cells, known for their durability in extreme temperatures, ranging from -20 °C (-4 °F) to 60 °C (140 °F). Another useful feature is the 20-W reverse charging capability, which lets users charge their phones on the go.
User experience and practical design
The rider stands on foldable platforms positioned on either side of a 16-inch wheel with a 3-inch tubeless tire. Acceleration and braking are controlled by leaning forward or backward, while side tilts allow for smooth turns. The design is intuitive, making it accessible for riders of various skill levels. The built-in trolley handle also makes it easier to transport when not in use.

Entertainment and personalization
InMotion has included features for a more engaging riding experience. The V9 is equipped with high-fidelity dual speakers for music on the move, with Bluetooth sync options for group listening. Additionally, it offers customizable ambient lighting, adding a personal touch to the unicycle’s appearance.
Limitations and legal considerations
Despite its robust features, the V9 faces regulatory challenges. In many places, electric unicycles are not permitted on public roads, sidewalks, or bike lanes, limiting their use to private properties, business parks, or university campuses with specific permissions.

Price and availability
Weighing in at 23 kg (48.5 lb), the InMotion V9 is currently available for purchase at a price of $1,299. This places it in the premium category of electric unicycles, appealing to enthusiasts looking for both performance and safety.
