Building an interior wall usually means hiring contractors, dealing with dust, waiting for schedules to align, and paying labor costs that can exceed the materials themselves. Zenet, an Italian company based in Campo San Martino in the Padua province, has developed an alternative called TAKTAK — a modular interior wall system made from pre-cut, numbered wood particleboard panels that can be assembled without cutting, specialist tools, or previous construction experience.
The company compares the process to assembling flat-pack furniture rather than performing traditional construction work. Yet the finished result is designed to function as a genuine interior wall capable of supporting shelving, televisions, and wall-mounted cabinets without the special anchors typically required for hollow drywall.
An alternative to conventional drywall
TAKTAK is produced by Zenet SRL and is positioned as an alternative to both conventional drywall and contractor-installed partition systems.
The panels are manufactured from FSC-certified recycled wood particleboard bonded with low-formaldehyde adhesives. The FSC certification confirms responsible sourcing standards, while the low-emission materials make the product suitable for occupied homes, offices, medical practices, and wellness spaces. Zenet provides a 10-year warranty covering materials and structural stability.
Installation in five steps
The installation process is designed to be completed without professional construction knowledge.
First, the wall position is marked on the floor and ceiling. Next, floor and ceiling guide rails are installed. These can be fixed using the included anchors or, where drilling is undesirable—such as heated floors, parquet, or finished tile—using the high-strength double-sided tape included with the kit.
The third stage is assembly. Every panel arrives already cut to the customer’s measurements and numbered according to an assembly diagram supplied by Zenet. There is no measuring, cutting, or material waste on site. Panels simply slot into place in sequence.
Once assembled, the joints are finished using the supplied filler and reinforcing tape to create a continuous surface. The wall is then painted using either the included primer or any standard interior paint.
According to the company, two people can complete a 10-square-meter (107-square-foot) wall in approximately four hours.
Thickness options and structural performance
TAKTAK is available in three thicknesses:
- 8 cm (3.1 in) for counter-walls and cladding applications
- 10 cm (3.9 in) as the standard residential and office configuration
- 13 cm (5.1 in) for enhanced acoustic performance or more extensive electrical routing
Depending on configuration and fixing method, walls can reach heights of up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) without additional structural reinforcement. The company does not specify a maximum wall length.
One of the system’s most notable advantages is load-bearing capability. Each fixing point can support between 30 and 40 kg (66 to 88 lbs), while distributed loads can reach 70 kg (154 lbs). This allows televisions, shelving, and wall cabinets to be mounted directly using standard wood screws without searching for studs or using hollow-wall anchors.

Acoustic and insulation options
According to Zenet, the density of the wood particleboard provides 5 to 7 dB greater sound attenuation than standard single-layer drywall.
Additional insulation can be incorporated during the design stage. Buyers can choose between:
- Semi-rigid rock wool insulation, 40 kg/m³ density and 60 mm thickness, priced at €8 per square meter
- Natural hemp and kenaf fiber insulation of the same density and thickness, priced at €15 per square meter
The hemp-based option is particularly aimed at medical facilities, wellness environments, and environmentally focused residential projects.
What comes in the kit
Each TAKTAK order is delivered on a pallet measuring approximately 120 × 80 × 120 cm and weighing between 150 and 250 kg, depending on wall size.
The shipment includes:
- Pre-cut and numbered wall modules
- Floor and ceiling guide rails
- Complete fixing hardware
- Joint filler and tape
- Assembly instructions and numbered installation diagrams

All cutting is completed at the factory based on the measurements supplied by the buyer, eliminating the need for on-site fabrication.
Compatible spaces and configurations
TAKTAK is designed exclusively for interior use. Zenet lists residential homes, offices, retail spaces, gyms, medical practices, beauty salons, and showrooms among its intended applications.
The system can also be used in bathrooms provided any surfaces exposed to direct water contact are fully tiled.
The wall system is compatible with a wide variety of floor finishes, including ceramic tile, parquet, resin, concrete, carpet, and heated floors. Ceiling compatibility includes concrete slabs, timber beams, laminated timber structures, reinforced drywall ceilings, and sloped attic ceilings.
Because each project is manufactured to order, modules can be cut to follow angled ceilings and irregular rooflines, making the system suitable for converted lofts and older buildings.
Electrical outlets, switches, and conduit runs can be incorporated before production, with the necessary openings pre-cut at the factory. The system supports conventional hinged doors, exterior sliding doors, and concealed sliding door systems.
Configurations are not limited to straight walls. The modular design also supports L-shaped layouts, U-shaped enclosures, corners, and walls incorporating niches.
Regulations and permits
In Italy, TAKTAK installations generally fall within the category of non-structural interior partition work, meaning no planning permission, structural approval, or municipal notification is typically required.
However, regulations vary significantly between countries and municipalities. Buyers outside Italy should verify local building code requirements before starting a project.
The system may also qualify for Italian renovation-related tax incentives when installed as part of an eligible renovation project, although buyers should confirm eligibility with their tax advisor or local authority.
Who is it best suited for?
TAKTAK is particularly aimed at homeowners who want to divide a room, create a home office, add a walk-in wardrobe, enclose a laundry area, or create additional storage space without bringing in contractors.

Because there is no on-site cutting, installation generates very little dust or mess. This can be especially valuable in occupied apartments where renovation work may affect neighbors or be restricted by building regulations.
The system may also appeal to small businesses and commercial tenants looking to reconfigure rented premises without extensive structural alterations.
Its ability to support heavy loads directly through the wall surface is another practical advantage for users planning to install shelving, cabinets, or wall-mounted electronics.
The product is less suited to large commercial partition projects or buyers who may face complicated import logistics and local compliance requirements outside Italy.
Important limitations
TAKTAK is not designed for exterior use. Exposure to rain, direct sunlight, or outdoor humidity can damage both the particleboard panels and the finished joints. As a result, it should not be used in garden rooms, pergolas, open-sided structures, or unheated outbuildings exposed to weather.
The wall cavity is also not intended for major plumbing infrastructure. Primary water supply lines and main plumbing columns cannot be routed through the system. Only smaller conduits or minor drain connections are permitted, and these must be specified during the design stage before production begins.
Delivery logistics should also be considered. While individual modules can be carried separately through stairwells, complete pallet weights range from 150 to 250 kg, making ground-floor access or a freight elevator preferable for upper-floor installations.
Ordering and pricing
TAKTAK is sold directly through Zenet’s website, where buyers can enter wall dimensions, thickness preferences, door options, and insulation selections into an online configurator to receive a personalized quote.
The company does not publish a standard price per square meter. Costs vary depending on wall dimensions, configuration, door integrations, and insulation choices.
Once ordered, the wall components are manufactured to the submitted measurements, cut at the factory, numbered, and shipped on a pallet ready for installation.
For homeowners and small businesses looking to create new interior spaces without the disruption of conventional construction, TAKTAK offers an unusual combination of DIY simplicity, structural strength, and made-to-measure customization.
