For those who enjoy bikepacking but dread setting up a tent after a long day of pedaling, the i:woody offers a unique solution. This compact wooden trailer, designed to be towed by an ebike, provides a ready-to-sleep-in shelter, eliminating the hassle of pitching a tent.
The i:woody was created by German entrepreneurs Erich Zeller and Naid Deliu, who offer it through their company, Fahrrad-Campen (“bicycle camping”). Available for purchase, it can also be rented in Germany or even built by customers during guided workshops.
Constructed primarily from lacquered plywood, the trailer’s weatherproof design features a large hinged Plexiglass window and a solid wooden lockable door for security. The i:woody measures 208 cm in length, 94 cm in width, and 155 cm in height (approximately 82 x 37 x 61 inches), and its weight ranges from 64 to 72 kg (141 to 159 lbs), depending on the outfitting chosen.
On the road, it rides on 20-inch aluminum wheels fitted with Schwalbe Super Moto tires. For visibility, the trailer is equipped with two StVZO-compliant LED tail lights. The i:woody is also designed with practicality in mind. Once parked for the night, the trailer’s adjustable aluminum supports, combined with an integrated bubble level, help ensure it’s positioned correctly on uneven ground.

Inside, the i:woody includes a bench with an adjustable backrest, a single bed with a 7-cm-thick polyurethane foam mattress, and 360 liters (95 gallons) of storage space beneath the bed. Additional features include LED lighting, a single-burner gas stove, and a ventilation system powered by a battery pack.

Pricing for the i:woody starts at €5,900 (about US$6,525). Optional extras include a solar panel, a washbasin and composting toilet, a skylight, and an outside-accessible storage compartment, offering added convenience for longer trips.
