Remote-controlled motorized wagon is a smarter way to haul heavy loads

Moving heavy items can be physically exhausting, especially with traditional pulled wagons. To address this challenge, startup Litefar has introduced the Orion, a motorized smart wagon designed to ease the burden of transporting loads. With a remote-controlled system and several advanced features, the Orion offers an innovative solution for carrying up to 180 pounds of gear with minimal effort.

The Orion is equipped with four rubberized wheels, and its two rear wheels house powerful 500-watt hub motors. These motors allow the wagon to reach a top speed of 2 meters per second (4.4 mph), which can be adjusted via a small wireless remote. The remote offers four speed options, starting at 0.6 m/s, making it versatile for different hauling needs. Whether moving through a crowded park or along a rough trail, the user can maintain full control over the speed.

One of the standout features of the Orion is its LumiMote remote control, which boasts a response time of just 3 milliseconds and a transmission range of up to 12 meters (39.4 feet). The remote includes a joystick for easy steering and has a dedicated button to activate the electronic brake, ensuring safe stops when needed. Additionally, the wagon can be kept in a hold position, preventing it from rolling away when parked, and it even offers a reverse function for tricky maneuvers.

The wagon also incorporates AI technology, making it more intelligent than your average motorized cart. Its high-precision Inertial Measurement Unit enables the onboard controller to adjust motor power automatically. For instance, if the wagon encounters a hill, the AI will increase motor power to maintain a steady speed.

The Orion can haul up to 180 pounds of gear.

The Smart Mode further ensures the wagon stays on course, avoiding the tendency to veer off to one side. Additionally, if someone tries to push the wagon unexpectedly, the system will compensate by slowing down to the target speed.

Powering the Orion is a 24,000-mAh battery, which provides up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) of operation on a single charge. This battery can also double as a USB power bank, allowing users to charge their devices, such as smartphones, while on the go—a handy feature for outdoor adventures or long treks.

Litefar Orion Motorized Smart Wagon Add-Ons
Optional accessories like side pockets, waterproof covers, and a fold-out table are also available.

The Orion can carry substantial loads, offering up to 140 liters of cargo space in its fabric storage box. The wagon is capable of hauling up to 81.6 kilograms (180 pounds) and can tow an impressive 188 kilograms (415 pounds) when needed. To enhance usability, side pockets, a cargo net, and a fold-out table are available as optional add-ons.

Litefar Orion Motorized Smart Wagon Telescoping Lantern
The Orion features a built-in telescoping lantern, perfect for illuminating your path during nighttime adventures.

Built with durability in mind, the Orion’s wheels are tubeless and feature an IPX6 rating, meaning they can withstand puddles or wet conditions during beach outings or rainy days. It also includes a telescopic lantern for nighttime use, and the remote control has an integrated 300-lumen flashlight with an SOS mode for emergencies. When not in use, the aluminum alloy frame of the Orion collapses by 40%, making it easy to store or transport in a car trunk. The entire wagon weighs 16.5 kilograms (36 pounds), making it relatively portable for its size.

Litefar Orion Remote-controlled Motorized Smart Wagon Foldable
The Orion folds down by 40%, making it easy to store or transport between hauling tasks.

Currently, the Orion is available for pre-order on Kickstarter, where pledges start at $389. As with all crowdfunding projects, backers should proceed with caution, but the campaign is fully funded, and if everything goes according to plan, shipping is expected to begin in December.
