The 2024 Crossfire 4.7 panoramic pod camper is stylish and robust

On The Move (OTM) has taken a significant step forward in the world of hybrid caravans with the introduction of the 2024 Crossfire 4.7. Originally part of OTM’s robust lineup, the Crossfire has been transformed from a basic hybrid caravan into a sleek, stylish, and wood-free off-grid camping pod. This new model aims to compete with contemporary designs such as the Kimberley Kube, offering an innovative and highly livable solution for off-road enthusiasts.

    Innovative construction and design

One of the standout features of the Crossfire 4.7 is its new three-piece composite construction. This design involves securing two sidewalls to a continuous single-piece roof/floor structure, enhancing the weatherproof integrity of the body and protecting against leaks and drafts. The wood-free construction eliminates concerns about decay and rotting, a common issue with wood-based campers.

The 4.7-meter-long (15.4 feet) camper boasts an automotive-grade high-tensile steel chassis, ensuring durability and resilience in various terrains. The inclusion of a dual-airbag independent suspension, DO35 off-road coupling, and 265/75 R16 off-road tires further enhances its capability to handle rugged ground conditions, making it suitable for adventures in and beyond the Australian Outback. Additionally, the slashed rear-end design improves the departure angle, providing more flexibility on challenging terrains.

    Comfort and convenience inside

The interior of the Crossfire 4.7 is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. The two-sleeper caravan-style cabin features a queen-size memory foam bed at the front, ensuring a good night’s sleep after a day of exploration. The dining area, located just behind the bed, includes two leatherette-clad lounge seats with individual floating dining tables. This unique split-table design maintains a central aisle, making it easier to navigate the interior, especially at night.

The layout features a queen-size bed, a dining lounge for two, a kitchen, and a wet bath.

At the rear corners of the camper are the kitchen and bathroom areas. The kitchen is equipped with a sink, a 105-liter refrigerator, and a dual-burner induction cooktop. The bathroom features a separate sink, a shower, and a cassette toilet. The plumbing system includes a 200-liter fresh water tank, a 100-liter gray water tank, and an instant continuous water heater, ensuring a reliable supply of water for all needs.

    Dual kitchen areas

The Crossfire 4.7 follows a growing trend by incorporating two kitchen areas. The slide-out external kitchen includes a three-burner gas stove and a sink, providing additional cooking options and convenience. An exterior pantry adds accessible dry storage, making it easy to grab essentials while cooking outdoors.

The Crossfire 4.7 is equipped with a range of modern amenities to enhance the camping experience. It includes an electrical system with a 200-Ah lithium battery, two 200-W solar panels, and a 2,000-W inverter, ensuring a steady supply of power. Additional features include a Dometic air conditioner, interior and exterior lighting, dual Bluetooth speakers, and a reverse camera system for added safety.
