A sofa bed is useful when a living room occasionally needs to become a bedroom, but most designs still provide only one shared sleeping surface. The Dormire V2 takes a more ambitious approach: the entire seat rises to create two separate bunks, complete with an integrated ladder, upper guardrails and a locking mechanism.
Sold by Expand Furniture, the convertible couch is designed for apartments, guest rooms, vacation properties and multipurpose spaces where permanently installing two beds would consume too much room.
A full sofa during the day
In its closed position, the Dormire V2 functions as an upholstered sofa measuring 89.37 inches (227 cm) wide, 41.73 inches (106 cm) deep and 28.74 inches (73 cm) high. Its current specification table gives the seat height as 19.29 inches (49 cm).
The transformation begins by pulling a handle and lifting the seat base. Springs assist the movement, raising the seating platform into the upper-bunk position while revealing the lower mattress. The user then positions the built-in ladder, latches the structure, engages a key-operated lock and opens the upper safety guards.

Expand Furniture says the process takes less than a minute and can be completed by one person. No wall mounting is mentioned, distinguishing it from a Murphy bed that must be secured to a suitable wall.
The ladder is part of the support system
The ladder does more than provide access to the upper bed. Once fitted, it also helps support and lock the raised structure in position. A separate key lock provides a second layer of security, while folding guardrails surround the elevated sleeping surface.
In bunk mode, the furniture retains the same 89.37-by-41.73-inch footprint but rises to 66.54 inches (169 cm). The upper sleeping platform sits approximately 51.8 inches (132 cm) above the floor.
An older video description on the page mentions a 16.5-inch seat height and a 51.2-inch upper-bunk height. Because Expand Furniture says that video depicts an older version, the figures above come from the current V2 dimension table.

Two included Italian-size mattresses
The Dormire includes two medium-density foam mattresses, each measuring 31.5 × 74.8 × 6 inches (80 × 190 × 15 cm). Expand Furniture describes them as Italian single mattresses.
They are narrower than a standard US twin mattress, which is normally around 38 inches wide. That helps keep the furniture relatively compact, but buyers may need to look specifically for fitted sheets suited to the supplied dimensions.
The recommended maximum load is 225 lb (102 kg) on the upper bunk and approximately 275 lb (125 kg) on the lower bunk. The company advises placing the heavier sleeper on the lower level. Although the Dormire is marketed as capable of sleeping two adults, comfort will depend on their size and preference for the relatively narrow sleeping surfaces.

Storage, upholstery and cleaning
A compartment behind the sofa back provides space for pillows and bedding. That is an important detail for a product intended to transform quickly, since users do not necessarily need a separate cupboard for every sleeping accessory.
The standard Roma upholstery is made from 100% polyester and carries a stated 100,000-rub durability rating. Earth Grey, identified as Roma 10, is the stocked option shown on the product page, while additional colors can be custom ordered.
The covers unzip and the foam inserts can be replaced over time. Expand Furniture says the removable fabric may be carefully hand-washed or dry-cleaned but should not be put in a washing machine.

A large piece of space-saving furniture
The Dormire saves space by combining seating and sleeping functions, but it is not a small couch. At nearly 7.45 feet wide, it needs a long wall and adequate ceiling clearance. Buyers should also leave room to operate the lifting mechanism without nearby furniture getting in the way.
Delivery access deserves particular attention. With packaging and removable panels taken off, the company lists the narrowest relevant dimension as 27.5 inches. Customers are responsible for checking doors, corridors, elevators, staircases and tight corners before ordering. Further disassembly may be possible, but the delivery company is not expected to undertake that work.
The product arrives mostly assembled in three main sections. Expand Furniture estimates that putting those sections together takes about 45 minutes.
Safety and practical considerations
The ladder latch, key lock and folding guardrails are useful safeguards, but the furniture must be fully opened and locked before either bunk is occupied. Users should also stay within the separate weight limits and avoid replacing the mattresses with thicker ones that could reduce the effective height of the upper guardrails.
The product page does not identify a specific US, Canadian or European bunk-bed testing standard or publish a safety certificate. Buyers who require documented compliance for a rental property, hotel or institutional setting should request the applicable certification directly from the company.

The Italian-size mattresses, final-sale policy and delivery dimensions are the biggest practical considerations. In return, the design can give a family room, home office or guest lounge two separate beds without permanently surrendering the room to bedroom furniture.
Pricing and availability
The Dormire V2 is listed at $5,995 on Expand Furniture’s US storefront, with Earth Grey shown as the in-stock finish. Taxes and special delivery charges may be added depending on location.
In-stock inventory is estimated to reach homes in around three weeks. Custom colors are produced in Italy and shipped by sea to the United States and Canada, with the company advising buyers to allow approximately 20 weeks for production and transport. International orders, Alaska and Hawaii require an inquiry.
The Dormire is a final-sale product. Expand Furniture says it cannot be returned, and an order cannot be canceled once Italian production begins or inventory is allocated.
For households that regularly need to accommodate overnight guests, the Dormire offers a clever alternative to keeping a permanent bunk bed in the room. Its appeal is not that the sofa itself is tiny, but that one footprint can serve as comfortable daytime seating and two distinct beds when required.
