Tokqi’s latest innovation, the CO3 Octopus tripod, is set to redefine the concept of camera stability. Unlike traditional tripods, the Octopus offers more than just a still platform for cameras. Named after the marine creature, though it boasts only three legs instead of eight, this revolutionary device offers flexibility and convenience for both professional and amateur photographers.
Taking a leaf from Joby GorillaPod’s design, the Octopus features three flexible legs. Each leg comprises an articulated aluminum skeleton sheathed in Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) rubber, a material known for its gripping capabilities. These legs can be wrapped around objects such as branches or railings, enabling the tripod to secure a third-party camera in unconventional positions.
The Octopus tripod isn’t limited to wrapping around objects; it can also function as a standard tripod. The legs can be spread out straight or drawn together to form a compact camera handle. This versatility makes the Octopus ideal for various shooting scenarios, including selfies, facilitated by the device’s integrated telescoping aluminum extension pole that extends to a maximum length of 638 mm (25 inches).
The Octopus’ ball head sits at the end of the extension pole, rotating 360 degrees and locking in place as needed. It features a quarter-inch screw mount for attaching DSLRs and action cameras, while an included adjustable-width holder caters to smartphones. In the midst of shooting, users can quickly detach the phone holder for convenient access to their devices.

The ball head also incorporates a cold shoe mount for attaching peripherals such as lights or shotgun microphones. Moreover, it houses a receptacle for the included Bluetooth smartphone remote. This detachable remote allows users to capture still photos or control video recording on a linked Apple or Android phone from a distance of up to 10 meters (33 feet). The remote operates on a replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery.
The Tokqi CO3 Octopus is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign. For interested backers, a pledge of $59 promises to secure one of these innovative tripods before they hit the market at a retail price of $89.

This versatile and user-friendly tripod promises to broaden the horizons of photography, offering new perspectives and creative possibilities. Don’t miss the chance to experience the flexibility and convenience of the Tokqi CO3 Octopus tripod. Check out the video below to see the tripod in action.
