In the rapidly evolving world of electric transportation, the latest innovation comes not in the form of a car, scooter, or even a bicycle, but a quadcycle – and it’s designed for two. The cargo e-quadcycle market, though still niche, has seen many developments aiming to help riders carry heavy loads efficiently. Yet, the inherent limitation has always been the power and stamina of a single rider. Enter the Velocity.
The Velocity, a brainchild of the German mobility firm Veload, stands out by offering seating for two riders. This is not just about accommodating an extra passenger. Both riders actively participate in propelling the quadcycle, maximizing the hauling capability. Each seat is ergonomically designed and adjustable, ensuring comfort for both riders.
Further complementing this is the SRAM Centera chain-drive drivetrain linked to the quadcycle’s rear axle. It should be noted that while both riders can pedal, only the left-hand rider controls the steering, manages the nine available gears, and operates the four hydraulic disc brakes through a single handlebar setup.
Under the hood, the Velocity is powered by a Heinzmann CargoPower R111 rear hub motor, enhancing the riders’ effort with an additional 25 Nm (18 lb ft) of torque. This allows the cargo e-quadcycle to reach an assisted speed of up to 25 km/h (16 mph). Moreover, its 1,400-Wh lithium iron phosphate battery promises a commendable range. On a full 10-hour charge, the Velocity can traverse up to 60 km (37 miles). Enhancing this is the regenerative braking system, which recovers energy during braking.

Practicality is also at the forefront of Velocity’s design. Its rear cargo bed aligns with the EUR-standard for pallets and boxes, boasting a payload limit of 200 kg (441 lb). With rider(s) and cargo combined, the quadcycle can manage a total weight of up to 300 kg (661 lb). Impressively, despite its ability to accommodate two, a single rider can still operate the Velocity for lighter loads. Dimensionally, it is 2.8 meters in length and 1.25 meters wide, with a weight of 130 kg (287 lb).

Not compromising on safety and convenience, the Velocity is equipped with a comprehensive lighting system, including turn indicators. Furthermore, a 230-volt socket can be used for charging electronic devices. The cargo e-quadcycle’s rear coil-spring suspension ensures a smoother ride.
For those considering a powerful and efficient cargo hauling solution, the Velocity comes with a price tag of €14,042, which translates to approximately US$15,280.
