In the realm of bicycle accessories, convenience and adaptability are key for the modern urban commuter. The new Allpacka One bike rack embodies these principles, offering a practical solution for carrying cargo on a bicycle. This innovative accessory transforms from a sleek, flat cargo rack into a spacious basket in mere seconds, ensuring that riders are never caught off guard when they need extra carrying capacity.
The Allpacka One is designed to mount atop a flat luggage rack using four screws, providing a sturdy and secure attachment. In its folded form, the rack features a flat top with vertical sides that hang over the bicycle wheel. This configuration not only maintains a low profile but also includes loops along the upper edges, allowing users to hang or lash panniers and packs for additional storage options.
The standout feature of the Allpacka One is its origami-style construction. With a swift motion, the flat rack unfolds into a 30-liter basket in about one second. This rapid transformation makes it incredibly convenient for spontaneous shopping trips or unexpected cargo needs.
The basket is large enough to carry a couple of bags of groceries, packages, or even a crate of beer. It can handle a payload of up to 44 pounds (20 kilograms), making it suitable for a variety of everyday items.

Despite its impressive capacity, the Allpacka One is not designed for all types of cyclists. Mountain bikers and endurance racers, for instance, might not find this accessory suitable for their needs. However, for everyday urban commuters, it offers a practical and versatile solution. Weighing in at just 5.5 pounds (2.5 kilograms), it is lightweight enough not to add significant bulk to the bicycle when folded.

The Allpacka One was showcased at Eurobike 2024, a major industry event, earlier this month. The company plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign in September to fund its market release. While pricing details have not yet been disclosed, Allpacka has hinted at offering various accessories to complement the One, including a cargo net and a rain cover. Additionally, the modular design of the One means that individual parts can be easily replaced if they break, enhancing the product’s longevity and sustainability.
