Scewo BRO: Stair-climbing wheelchair allows disabled people to be more independent

For years, designers have been utilizing different engineering and design forms to allow wheelchairs to go up and down steps. Scewo has accomplished the task with their BRO motorized wheelchair! Scewo’s futuristic design makes its wheelchair easy to handle and simple to use for everyday life. Scewo BRO is an updated and refined model from the company’s first-generation Scalevo. The company, based in Zurich, Scewo, sets their BRO wheelchair apart from the rest, with large wheels and a modular design.

    Versatility

Scewo BRO wheelchair is a complete multitasker. Users can control the chair by using either a smartphone or an integrated touch interface. Switching from one to the other is a breeze and allows the user to continue where they left off without a hitch. Users can switch between three different modes: park mode, drive mode, and track mode. These modes give the user the freedom to ride over any terrain.

When it comes time to ride up or down a set of stairs, all you have to do is switch the chair into track mode. The Scewo BRO will elevate the chair onto the first step and let the user control the ride for the rest of the way up or down. Those using the Scewo BRO can easily elevate this wheelchair by almost a meter to reach things that are higher off the ground. When elevated, the power wheelchair will drive both backward and forwards.

    Comfort and security

The Scewo BRO was built for comfort. Users can adjust the seat for comfort, as they please, and BRO is compatible with other cushions. The back and foot support is adjustable electronically, and the seat width and depth can be adjusted mechanically. For a perfect fit, users can adjust the height of the arm support, which folds up and down to make it easy to get off and on the chair.

The safety features on the Scewo BRO are designed to allow for a dynamic ride without the risk of tipping. Bro comes with two secure compartments so that all of your valuables can be safely stowed while you are on the go. This chair allows for the rider to be active without taking on any unnecessary risk. After you have been riding around for a while and need a break, BRO can be adjusted to a relaxation position that offers decompression for your seating area.

    Easy to charge and transport

The Scewo BRO will fully charge in just about five hours. All you have to do is connect the magnetic plug. Need to travel and bring your Bro in the car? With one grasp, you can fold the back support of the BRO. Once in a compact size, it can be stored comfortably in the back or the trunk of a car; this wheelchair even fits into small cars.

    Scewo BRO Transport
Fold down the backrest, stow BRO in the trunk of your car via the ramp and off you go.

    How to get it

Updated on 20th Aug, 2022: Currently, Scewo BRO is available in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. You can order BRO through Scewo directly or through a certified Scewo partner. All Scewo partners offer consultations on BRO, carry out test drives and ensure maintenance in your region. You can find a local Scewo partner here.

Scewo does not deliver to other countries yet. The argument being that they want to offer the users competent advice and perfect service over short distances. Therefore, they only deliver their wheelchairs to countries where they have already established partnerships with medical supply stores or where they can ensure the service themselves. However, Scewo is striving to offer BRO worldwide as soon as possible. The best thing to do is to register your interest in BRO here. That way you are guaranteed a spot on the waiting list for your home country.

    Scewo BRO Seat Height Adjustment
Thanks to its height adjusting mode, Scewo BRO makes it possible to have a conversation at eye level.

Scewo mentions that the costs of BRO are comparable to the purchase of a high-quality power wheelchair and an additional stair-climbing aid. The price varies depending on the chosen features. The reported starting price is around $US38,000.
