Velotric has introduced the Nomad 2, the second-generation model of its fat-tire adventure eBike designed to handle both rugged terrains and urban commutes with ease. With a maximum load capacity of 505 lbs (229 kg) and an impressive towing ability of up to 1,000 lbs (over 450 kg), the Nomad 2 is built for riders who need both power and versatility.
Upgraded design and comfort
The Nomad 2 retains the choice between a low-step or step-over aluminum alloy frame but enhances ride comfort with a few notable improvements. The RST hydraulic suspension fork now offers 100 mm of travel, up from the previous 80 mm, providing better shock absorption on rough terrain. This is complemented by 4-inch Kenda tires mounted on 26-inch alloy rims, along with a suspension seat post and an extra-wide saddle, all of which contribute to a smoother and more stable ride.
Enhanced power and flexibility
Equipped with a 750-W rear-hub motor, the Nomad 2 now features 90 Nm (66 lb.ft) of torque, offering improved hill-climbing capability. Riders can choose from three ride modes and five levels of pedal assist, allowing speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h). A removable throttle control is also included for those who prefer a more effortless riding experience.
One of the standout features is Velotric’s SensorSwap technology, which allows riders to switch between two different riding experiences. The torque sensor mode is designed for challenging off-road conditions, while the cadence mode is better suited for long-distance cruising with minimal effort. The Shimano 8-speed derailleur further enhances ride adaptability across various terrains.
Increased range and smart features
The Nomad 2 is powered by a larger 705.6-Wh battery, which is UL 2271-certified for safety. At the lowest pedal-assist setting, the eBike can cover up to 65 miles (105 km) on a single charge, while throttle-only mode provides a range of up to 45 miles (72.5 km). A 3.5-inch color display offers quick access to riding data and features Bluetooth connectivity along with a USB-C port for smartphone charging.
Cargo and towing capabilities
For those who require serious hauling power, the Nomad 2’s frame and MIK-compatible rear rack support up to 505 lbs of cargo. Additionally, its towing capacity of 1,000 lbs makes it capable of pulling trailers loaded with gear, supplies, or even small recreational equipment, making it a strong choice for adventure seekers and utility-focused riders.
Safety and convenience features
Braking performance is handled by Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, with a 203-mm rotor at the front and a 180-mm rotor at the rear. The bike comes equipped with a 500-lumen LED headlight for nighttime visibility, while a tail light with integrated turn signals improves safety for both urban and off-road rides. Full fenders and an alloy kickstand are included for added practicality.
