There is no shortage of camping gear designed to make outdoor life more comfortable, but the Wide Path Camper bicycle camper takes a different approach entirely. Instead of a tent you wrestle with in the dark or a bulky trailer that needs a car to tow it, this is a hard-shell, fold-out camper built to be pulled behind a regular bicycle. It is compact enough to fit in an urban alley, but surprisingly roomy once opened up, and the whole setup takes less than three minutes.
The product comes from Thomas Møller Pedersen ApS (TMP), a small Danish manufacturer based in the town of Glyngøre. Every unit is assembled by hand in their local workshop, with parts sourced from nearby suppliers. The company describes the bicycle camper as “the flagship of our Wide Path Campers collection.”
Design and build quality
The camper uses a hard-shell exterior with a UV-resistant surface. The windows are made from shatter-resistant polycarbonate. The floor is water-resistant plywood, and a ventilation slot is built into the front section to keep air moving inside.
The folding mechanism is one of the camper’s defining features. The back half folds over the front for transport, bringing the total length down to just 149 cm (about 58.5 inches) without the towing rod. When opened up for camping, the unit extends to 285 cm (roughly 9.4 feet). Height stays consistent at 175 cm (about 5 feet 9 inches) whether folded or unfolded, and width is 97 cm (around 38 inches) throughout. The camper sits 28 cm (about 11 inches) off the ground.

No tools are required to set it up — the company emphasizes this as part of the product’s core design philosophy.
What’s inside
The interior has a sitting area with a dining table measuring 50 × 75 cm (roughly 20 × 30 inches). The bench seats sit 35 cm (about 14 inches) off the floor, while the sitting area offers 142 cm (around 56 inches) of headroom — comfortable for sitting, though not for standing upright.
The sitting area converts into a sleeping space. The bed measures 185 cm long by 90 cm wide, with 5 cm thick PU foam cushions rated at 40 kg/m² as standard. There is also a built-in nightstand at the head end.
Storage is one of the more practical features: under the bed, there is up to 300 liters (about 79 gallons) of space. A built-in exterior rail allows users to attach optional tent or sun covers.
Wide Path Camper describes the overall experience this way: “This mobile tiny ‘house’ offers instant shelter from the weather, a comfortable bed for up to 2 people, and a convertible space for 4 adults to dine, relax, and camp in style.”
Practicalities: towing and bike compatibility
The camper connects to a bicycle via a towing rod. One important compatibility note from the manufacturer: “Bicycles with 5mm quick release spindles don’t have the required strength to connect the towing rod for the camper.” Riders with that axle setup will need to review the online user manual before purchasing.

The company recommends measuring the height from the ground to the towing rod mounting point on your bike. This allows TMP to adjust the camper’s balance before shipping. TMP also recommends using cargo straps to secure luggage, as shifting weight during riding can affect stability.
Where it fits in the Wide Path lineup
The bicycle camper is not the only product TMP makes. Their current range includes the APE Camper, designed for the Piaggio APE 50 three-wheeled scooter, which has a range of up to 200 km (about 124 miles) per tank; the Homie Camper, the newest model designed to attach to a small car (not yet road-approved at time of publication); and the WPC Bolt-On Kit, the camper top unit sold separately for mounting on a compatible base.
All Wide Path Campers are assembled by hand at TMP’s facility in Glyngøre, and all parts are manufactured in cooperation with local suppliers.
Pricing and how to order
The bicycle camper comes in two colors. The white version is priced at €4,699.99 (ex. VAT) and the red version at €4,999.99 (ex. VAT), roughly US$5,100–US$5,450 at current exchange rates, before shipping and any applicable import duties.

Ordering goes through a quote-based system. After submitting billing and shipping information, TMP calculates location-specific shipping costs, which can take up to four weeks. Once a quote is accepted, a 30% deposit starts production (two to four weeks). Shipping takes an additional four to five weeks, and the remaining 70% is due before the camper ships. It arrives fully assembled and ready to use.
A few things worth considering
The camper occupies a genuinely niche category. It is not cheap, and the logistics of ordering from Denmark — including shipping costs and wait times — add friction for buyers outside Europe. That said, there is not a lot of direct competition in the hard-shell bicycle camper space, which partly explains the product’s following.
For cyclists who want more protection than a tent but don’t want to own or rent a vehicle, it fills a real gap. The under-three-minute setup, no-tools design, and 300-liter under-bed storage make it more practical in day-to-day use than the compact exterior might initially suggest.
