New Zealand’s Bubble Caravans has unveiled an innovative and eye-catching teardrop camper, featuring a distinctive design inspired by the psychedelic 60s, and an impressive Swiss Army-grade galley. The 13-foot-long (4-m) Bubble Caravan is an exceptional micro-camper that can turn any roadside spot into a luxurious glamping site.

The camper’s unique appearance is thanks to its fiberglass monocoque construction, which provides joint-free weather protection. Vintage touches like the molded taillight fixtures and swoopy fenders contribute to the retro aesthetic, while marine-grade foam insulation ensures a comfortable interior.

The Bubble Caravan’s curvy sidewalls create a more spacious feel than the average flat-walled teardrop, accommodating a proper queen-size mattress. The cozy interior also features a padded headboard, fabric-trimmed surfaces, USB ports, and overhead cabinets. Buyers can choose additional options such as a TV and sound system.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Bubble Caravan is its versatile rear galley. In addition to the standard tailgate countertop, the camper boasts multiple slide-outs and hinged-lid compartments for storing various equipment. The side slide-out can hold an optional built-in gas grill, which can be accompanied by a slide-out dual-burner gas stove and microwave. Alternatively, buyers can opt for portable camping equipment. The caravan also includes a 100-L cool box, with an upgrade to a 12-V fridge/freezer available. The center sink with running tap comes as standard.

Featuring a plumbed-in BBQ, dual-burner stove, and microwave, the compact Bubble Caravan provides impressive cooking capabilities for its size.

Built on a galvanized chassis and leaf spring suspension, the Bubble Caravan’s fiberglass body has a tare weight of 1,213 lb (550 kg), ensuring easy towing. Standard features include a 40-Ah battery, 60-L fresh and gray water tanks, two lockable side entry doors, and LED lighting.

Although the Bubble Caravan didn’t create as much buzz as the Romotow swing-away caravan at the recent Covi Motorhome, Caravan and Outdoor Supershow in Auckland, it still attracted a significant number of visitors. The camper is priced at NZ$23,850 (approximately US$14,640) after GST, and future add-ons are planned, such as an off-road package, solar charging, rooftop tent, shower room, water heater, and 270-degree awning.
